Internet security, Resort 2014 collections and Zara

I have been watching the unfolding of the PRISM issue in the US with interest and I’m afraid I’m still on the fence with it all. I can’t decide if I am for or against or if perhaps a decision effecting National Security should be made on a case by case basis which is probably unrealistic given the amount of information being dealt with. Anyway my point is that I feel as though I am currently having my own little minor PRISM moment. I bought a top on line from The Iconic a few months ago. The top arrived very promptly but was not at all what I was expecting so I sent it back. The thing about buying on line is that there is a certain amount of trust involved. You give all your information to the company you are purchasing from and you then have to trust that they will not abuse or misuse that information. Since buying from them, I have been unable to shake myself free from The Iconics’s constant emails. They arrive relentlessly despite the many many times I have unsubscribed myself from their newsletters. I have even emailed and asked to be removed from their list but to no avail. It has been my experience that most companies respect your right to privacy and remove you from their lists immediately if you request it which is the way it should be when you have trusted them with all your on line purchasing information but not in this case and there is very little recourse.

I love the following looks from the current 2014 Resort collections. The mix of prints and textures is still strong and seems even more discordant than before. In some cases the colour used together aren’t related at all giving an even more mismatched discordant look that I really love but have never been able to pull off. I always look like I have been dressed by a charity shop and not by Stella McCartney!

This week I found lovely winter things at Zara. Everyone is still doing the khaki/military looking jacket, either unlined or sometimes lined in faux fur . A few of them have removable fur linings which is great if it’s not so cold that you need all that warmth. They have been around for 2 winters now but they are so versatile and go with everything. I also love them with summery florals although that is a more bohemian look that you need to be younger to carry off.
