Ari Seth Cohen’s book Advanced Style is a collection of photograph’s taken for his blog advancedstyleblog.com. It is a celebration of beautiful, stylish older woman that he has photographed over the years. All these woman have developed their own style signatures and all make bold statements with colour, pattern and accessories. They don’t follow fashion trends per say but embrace looks that suit them and say something about their personalities. One of the great advantages of being older is the freedom you have to express your eccentric side without being judged! All these woman are well groomed, wear over the top colours and huge accessories and pull it off perfectly.
I have always been told that older woman should embrace nude, neutral colours and avoid red lipsticks but this beautiful woman disproves this rule. This strong red looks wonderful on her and I like her use of a darker lip liner.
I always love Couture week and look forward to seeing all the beautiful garments, this Fall 2013 collection is no exception. The clothes were stunning and I was interested in the slight 20’s Oriental influence that was present in some of the collections. I wondered if The Great Gatsby has triggered an interest in vintage eastern design and influence.
These stripes are amongst my favourite looks. I love the colours and silky textures.
